Being in tune with yourself and your emotions, having sound situational awareness, and understanding and appropriately responding to the emotions of others are critical to your success as a leader. In this module you will learn about emotional intelligence and methods for increasing your “EQ” or emotional quotient.

Modules

1. Defining Emotional Intelligence

To concept of emotional intelligence, also referred to as EQ, has grown in popularity and importance over the past few years. In this video will will define what EQ is and briefly discuss the nature of emotions.


2. Developing Self-Awareness

The most foundational concept of EQ is that of self-awareness. In this segment we will explore why self-awareness is critical and how it opens the door for all the other elements of EQ to happen effectively.


3. Managing Our Emotions

Once we understand ourselves and how and why we act in certain ways and certain situations, we can then manage those emotions and behaviors effectively. In this segment you will be armed with a process to better manage your emotions and behaviors.


4. Expanding Empathy

In this segment we will explore how EQ is manifested externally in our direct interactions with others. In interacting with employees it is essential that you maintain a level of empathy to better understand their wants and needs. In this segment we’ll talk about empathy and how it can help you be a better leader.


5. Social Skills and Positive Influence

In our final EQ segment, we’ll discuss the importance of social skills and how they lead to positive influence. We’ll explore how positive influence can gain commitment of employees.
