Leaders are often called upon to make ethical decisions, this is particularly true of leaders in the public sector. In this module you will be provided perspectives and tools to help you make ethical decisions when values conflict.

Modules

1. Defining Ethics

Ethics is probably one of the most discussed, and most unappealing, topics in leadership and management. In this segment you’ll learn why ethics is so inherent to effective leadership.


2. Level One Ethics

In this module on ethics we will separate ethics into two tiers. In this video we will review the first tier of ethics, or Level 1 ethics. We will discuss what level 1 ethics consists of as well as the rules that mandate our ethical conduct as state employees.


3. Ethical Challenges

In this segment we will explore new ways to think about ethics at the first level. We will discover tools to use and you’ll see how ethical challenges are compounded within the realm of state employment.


4. Level Two Ethics

In this segment we will discuss the second tier of ethics, or level 2 ethics. You will learn about how to work through complicated ethical dilemmas by using an original tool developed by Dan Chase, DHRM Leadership Development Consultant.
